How do you Inspire?
"If you want to build a ship, don't drum up the women to gather wood, divide the work, and give orders. Instead, teach them to yearn for the vast and endless sea."
I love this quote because it speaks to my need to be given the answer. If you give me the answer, I don't have to think for myself. I don't have to be accountable.
I recently walked this journey in a health coaching experience I completed -Kim Jacques is the best. I wanted to know what was good and bad in all areas of my health.
The real question Kim kept pointing me back to is, "What works for your body?" There is no finite answer to that question which frustrated me.
It requires trial and error, curiosity without judgment, compassion, and courage.
It's not gathering all of the right foods, dividing up the meals and workouts, and giving myself orders.
It is yearning for a wonderful and health-filled approach to life that is mine and mine alone.
So often I have thought the answers lie outside of myself.
As KaTanya, a former client once said to me, "The answers are already within me, so why do I spend so much time asking others?"
I want to remind you, Ashley, that your answers are within you right now.
Start with what you do know, especially if it's tiny. We all have a knowing that feels like a whisper. Acknowledging it is your first step in teaching yourself to live your vast and endless adventures.
Motivation comes and goes. You don’t need more motivation or confidence to go after what you want. What you’re searching for is a yearning. A yearning, a deep knowing, a spark that will carry you far.
Reply to this email and tell me the answer you're searching for and the tiny whisper or big pebble that you know.
With Love,
Sarah x
